With these two men at the head of a new gang of gunmen, it was believed that y terday's bold stroke, which netted might prove to be only the beginning of a reign of terror. Ividence of the presence of Ander- son in the gang was established to the satisfaction of the police and the head of the Burns' Detective Agency v Charles Welling, a garage employe, who identified a rogues’ gal lery victure of Anderson as the like- ness of the man who on Wednesday night stored the automobile used by the bandits in the place where he, works. YELLOWLEY CONFERS ON BEER CONSPIRACY Discusses With Andrews Case Un- der Investigation by Federal Jury. E. C. Yellowley, Federal prohibition { administrator at Chicago, was in con- ference today with Assistant Secre- tary Andrews of the Treasury on the subject of the alleged beer-running conspiracy which has been under in: vestigation by the Federal grand jury in_Chicago. Neither official would discuss the conference, but it was admitted that | the beer case had been under consid | eration. Mr. Andrews has been giving | considerable attention to reports by Federal agents on the question of transportation of beer into Chicago, but has kept his own counsel, and his assoclates have been giving no intima- tion as to his thoughts on ways and means of defeating a continuation of | the illegal traffic. It was assumed that Mr. Yellowley had apprised the Assistant Secretary of the character of evidence presented to the grand jury, most of which had been gathered by agents working under Mr. Yellowley’s direction a hint thrown out that Mr. may turn to consideration of new regulations to prevent a recur- rence of the traffic which has beeneso much trouble in the lake region. During an election at Ennis, Ire- land, this Fall, one ballot box was taken 30 miles to a polling place, guarded through the day, htne was sealed and taken back to the court- house to be opened and reveal that not a vote had been placed in it.
