Klark and Jacobs, entertainers, have been engaged to appear with the Meyer Davis Le Paradis Roof Band in their concert to be broadcast tonight by WRC, beginning at 10 o'clock. This team has recently featured in the entertainment presented nightly at the Chateau Le Paradis, and has arranged a special group of numbers for broadeasting Other events on tonight's radio pro gram will be the weekly concert by the United States Mairne Band, played in the Sylvan Theter;,the Romanys Royal Hour of Music, to be presented in the stud WJZ, New York, and & dinner concert by Sidney Sefdemann’s Shoreham Hotel Orchestra, with Jack Nesbit as soloist The Marine Band will be led tonight by Tavlor Branson, second leader, and the concert will be Jointly with WRC by stations WJZ, New York; WGY, Schenectady, and WBZ, Springfield. The program that will be followed this Fall for the development of radio in all its phases appears now to be pretty clearly defined. Except for the possibility of Introducing demonstra- tions of rebroadcasting from Europe and the chance that new and note- worthy discoveries may be made in the realm of extremely high frequency transmission and reception, nothing sensational is gxpected either from the radio inventor or the radio engineer until 1 Broadcasting apparently will be ab- sorbed for the next few months with experiments of transmission on vastly | increased power, running perhaps as | high as 100 kilowatts, and with the de. velopment of intcrnational rebroad- casting. The radio amateur has set himself to the task of further co-ordi nating the American Radio Relay League, of intensive study of the ex | tremely short waves and the develop- ment of the international organ of radio amateurs, with the hope that “rount-the-world” messages may be- come everyday occurrences. He also has assigned himself the job of pre- venting any further reduction of the broadcast bands into the bands now occupied by the amateurs of the United States. Wave Theory to Be Studied. The General Electric Co.. in addi- tion to its tests of superpower, will study at length the Alexanderson theory of horizontal waves, and con- tinue its development of apparatus for the standardizing of all radio parts and equipment. The Westinghouse Co. has announced that further perfection of rebroadcasts on short waves will be attempted by its engineers this Fall, and it also will be one of the entries in the development of superpower for radio programs. The American Telephone and Tele- graph Co. probably will further length- en its chain of wire-connected stations for the broadcasting of exceptional mu- sical programs and for the dissemina tion of nationally important addresses and banquet speeches. That section of the Department of Commerce that is particularly inter- ested in radio is concerning itself chiefly with holding back the threat ening tide of applications for broad casting licenses, with the creation of definite policies with regard to control of broadcasting and with obtaining ad- ditional appropriations from Congress for a more complete policing of the ether. Inventors at Work. Then there are the two picturesque inventors whose work has won them international fame, Dr. C. Francis Jen- kins and Dr. J. Harrls Rogers, who have laid plans for a Fall campaign of experimentation with their brain chil- dren. Dr. Jenkins hopes to transmit moving pictures over distances up to 1,000 miles by Christmas, and Dr. Rog- ers believes that by the first of the vear he will have learned considerably more than is at present revealed to science with regard to the transmis- slon and reception of radio waves on underground antennae. Other Fall experimentation will deal with transoceanic and ship-to-ship wireless telephony, with long-distnce transmission on short waves by the Navy Department, and, finally, with aeroplane wireless communication. WNYC TO BROADCAST UNIQUE 2-ACT PLAY Busy Street and Court Scenes in Brooklyn Figure in “Judge Fish Lays Down Law." From municipal broadcasting sta- tion WNYC, Tuesday evening at 7:05, under auspices of the Brooklyn Safe- ty Council, a two-act playlet, lasting 25 minutes and entitled “‘Judge Fish Lays Down the Law,” will be pre- sented. The scene of the first act will beat the busy street intersections by Borough Hall, Brooklyn; the second act will be set in the traffic court, with Judge Lawrence C. Fish—in charge of traffic courts in Brooklyn— presiding. The traffic violations, ar- rests and penalties will form the basis of the plot. The cast will include many important people in Brooklyn official and private life, real cops, attorneys, etc. In addition to this part of the program there will be addresses, all very brief, by officials |and representatives actively engaged in the promotion of safety for motor vehicles and pedestrians in the borough of Brooklyn. While the set- ting of the program will be local, the problems which it will deal with' will be of interest to every pedestrian and motorist, and furnish a liberal educa- tion in safety methods, practice and precautions. M. S. Sloane, chairman of the Brooklyn Safety Council, will produce the program. Edward T. O'Loughlin, park commissioner of the borough, will act as special announcer.
