Paul Bugene Roy, | Coadjutor Archbishop of Quebec New Zoo Family Solves Mystery Of Fairy Tales| Dr. William M. Mann, superintend- ant of the Zoo, has just received a family of European red squirrels, which he expects to prove of especial interest to children. These squirrels are the animals which used to be pictured on nursery blocks and children’s books. Their sharp faces and little red ears stick- ing straight in the air have proved a puzzle to many children after watch- ing the chipmunks and American squirrels, which look very different. The explanation is, according to Dr. Mann, that most of the toys were le in Germany and the German sts pictured the animals with which they were familfar, even in filling American orders. These squir- rels_are very abundant in practically all Northern Kuropean countries and are the same creatures frequently mentioned in England, French and German poetry and in Scandinavian fairy tales Work soon will start at the Zoo on a new flying cage to replace the one near the entrance to the birdhouse occupied by the eagles, condors and other large birds of prey. The new cage will be larger, allowing the big birds more opportunity to exercise their wings, and will contain a pool where they can drink and bathe. This also will ‘enable Dr. Mann to keep some of the larger water birds which own with the eagles in_the cage $3.50 Plnladelphla $3.25 Chester $3.00 Wilmington AND RETURN SUNDAY AUGUST 2 Special Train (Eastern Standard Time) eares Washington (Union Station) 7:30 AM Ary “'Hnnnclen 10:05 ANM AM Philadelphia. dieer, 15786 AR Returning. tion 7:33 5 Chester Broad leaves Broad Street Sta- P, West Philadelphia M.~ Chester 7:50 Wilmington 8:18 P.M Tickets on sale two days preceding Excursion Similar Excursions Sundazs. 30.
