GATHOLIC SOCIETY T0 WORK FOR BOYS Holy Name Organization Will Take Up Big Brother Move- ment in District. The Washington section of the Holy Name Society last ht referred to its executive committee, with full power to act for the o ation, a recommendation that the socfety enter into a wides of uplift work through the means of the Big Brother Movement, in co-operation with the €atholic Ch: ies of the Dis- trict of Columbia. The recommenda tion was made at the meeting of. the society at the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Fifteenth street and Morris road southeast, attended by 163 delegates, representing 37 parishes of this vicinity. M. A. Rattigan of Sacred Heart parish and chairman of the committee of the Big Brother Movement, made a report to the confe ce urging that the local Holy Name Society, through its executive committee, be given full authority to devise ways of paying the salary of an experienced official to serve under the Catholic Charities Board for carryving on the Big Brother uplift work. Dr. John O'C dy olic Charities, pleaded that the Holy Name Society assist in this enterprise. Describing as highly important the caring and aiding of who have been taken to court usually because of incorrigibility and de: quency, Dr. O'Grady explained how thé move- ment was being carried on in Balti more, Chicago and other cities through the medium of the Holy Name Societies, A number of cases of bovs who needed befriending were described by Dr. O'Grady. The executive committee will meet next week to decide upon the que: tion of assuming the Big Brother work here. Mark 1.
