FAMOUS WELSH PASTOR SPEAKS HERE TOMORROW Rev. Thomas C. Edwards to Preach Two Sermons at First Con- gregational Church. Rev. Dr. Thomas Cynonfardd Edwards, minister of the largest Welsh Congregational Church in the ited States, will speak at the First Congregational Church, Tenth and G streets northwest, tomorrow at 11 a.m. on “The Patmos Vision"” and at 8 p.m. on “The Prayer Parabie.” Dr. Edwards is regarded as one of the most unique ch: American pulpit today. educated in Wales, he ministry in his own country, later came to America and since he has been the minister of W Congregational Church lle, Pa., the church under ership becoming the largest Welsh Congregational Church in the country. Considerable of his time is devoted to lecturing on subjects’ of popular interest, and he is known throughout the country as one of the most popular of the Welsh preachers. Dr. Edwards is a musiclan of con- siderable talent, as is attested by the fact that he is frequently called to ‘Wales to conduct the great National Eisteddfod (assemblies of 12,000 to 20,000 singers). The 16 Lutheran churches of the District of Columbia have an organi- zation for work in the hospftals and homes for blind and aged known as the Inner Mission Soclety. Miss Bertha Helges is the executive secre- tary, with offices at 820 Eleventh street northwest. This organization directs soclal welfare work and religlous services where no religious service is provided in institutions. It also looks after the welfare of children, aiding the Juvenile Protective Association, the Juvenlle Court and similar organiza- tions. It i{s Christianity practically applied and deserves the help of all who belleve in its functions. The work is supported by the Luth- eran churches of the city through free-will offerings. The soclety will hold a lawn fete Monday and Tues. day at North Capitol street and Rhode Island avenue on the lawn of the Church of the Atonement. ATTEND CONVENTION. Federation Is Assisting in Movement. Twenty-four Washington churches of many denominations will conduct dally vacation Bible schools for the boys and girls, beginning Monday. Some schools already have begun. ‘They will continue for one month or longer and are free to all. Vacation Bible schools are a part of the Sum- mer program of these churches, in which Bible stories, songs, craft work and pageantry are taught. The churches that are conducting these schools include: Columbia Heights Disciples, Ninth Street Chris- tian, Foundry Methodist, North Capl- tol Methodist, Epworth Methodist South, Mount Vernon Place Meth- odist South, McKendree Methodist, Eastern Presbyterian, Garden Me- morial Presbyterian, Metropolitan Presbyterian, Sherwood Presbyterian, Takoma Park Presbyterian, Central Presbyterian &outh and Pligrims Presbyterian South.
