NEW YORK, June 22.—Bonds were firm today, but save in a few instances there were no notable advances. The general price level is so high that dealers hesitate to take on secur- ity “for stock,” as they phrase it. Not- withstanding the ease in the money market, they look for some seasonal stiffening of rates in the Autumn with a consequent weakening of prices for bonds. In any normal year that would be the natural order of events. So far, however, there is not the slightest indication of higher money, but there is enough doubt about to bring about a pause in the bond market. U. S. Securities Firm. Practically all the United States Governments sold around the highs of the year today. Rallway Savings Bank Mortgages were neglected, bank- ing interest being confined to Liber- ties. General Electric debenture 58 at 10614 duplicated the previous high of 1925. Second grade Investment bonds, such as Southern Railway general 4s and Louls-San Francisco prior lien “A" 4s, met with a steady de- mand In the foreign group the higher- yielding Issues did relatively better than those generally considered high- grade investments.
