June 13.—The growth of the United States Steel Corporation is retlected in the book value of the common stock, which was $274 a share at the close of 1924, compared with $121 at the time of organization, an apprecia- tion of $153 a share, nearly $40 a share above the present market price. The high price of Steel com- mon in 1914 was $67.50 a share, compared with §114 today, an in- crease of $46.75 a share. This com- pares with an appreciation of §$131 in book value.
