By the Associated Press. OMAHA, Nebr., June 10.—An ex- tensive search by Federal, State and civil authorities yesterday failed to disclose any definite trace of Maude Lee Mudd, 16-year-old Indian heiress of Miami, Oklahoma, who was mar- ried yesterday Council Bluffs, Tows, to Earl E. Gordon, white, also of Miami. The girl, with a legal @ght to more than $1,000,000, disappeared from her home May 21 last, after a large amount of litigation involving her fortune, which resulted in the se- lection of William Simms of Vinita, Okla., as the girl's guardian untll she is 21, According to witnesses at the mar- riage ceremony, the girl was accom- panied by her mother, who gave her consent. Mr. Sims is quoted in dispatches as declaring the marriage valid if her mother consented, and this is one rea- son why civil authorities desire to know the truth of the case. State and Federal authorities are checking her disappearance. Thinks Girl Coerced. Alex Mudd, uncle of the girl and reputed millionaire Osage Indian of Skiatook, Okla., near Tulsa, who is here attending the Ak-Sar-Ben horse races, said today he belleved Maude was forced into the marriage by her mother, who thinks her marriage would hasten the girl's inheritance and eliminate the guardian. The Rev. Calhoun, who officiated at the wedding, sald he did not sus- pect anything when the girl's mother gave her consent. He said the bride was seemingly apathetic during the ceremony, while the mother stood with her head bowed. V. J. Wilson, an unidentified member of the party. he said, kept hurrying the ceremony along. e A GOLOMBIAN CABINET SELECTION IS MADE Personnel of New Ministry Be- lieved to Have Popu- lar Approval.
