CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., June 4. —Mrs. Florine Plerce, wife of W. K. Pierce of Cedartown, Ga., who was en route with her husband and mother to Greenville, 8. C., was shot and killed in a peculiar accident here, The family was spending the night in a tent near White Oak Springs. The husband in retiring put his pistol under his pillow, “and shortly after 1 o'clock this morning the mother of Mrs. Plerce was awak- ened by screams of her daughter that her husband had been shot, and just as they had awakened the husband Mrs. Pierce dropped dead. When examined it was found she had been shot through the head. It is supposed that the husband fired the pistol accidental- ly in his sleep. The coroner and attorney gen- eral, after investigating the cases, decided that it was purely an accl- dent, and the husband and mother returned to Cedartown with the body of Mrs. Plerce for burial. b o beli that P vill wi t the reterendam, " the president continuea,| TWO BREAK CAROLINA JAIL very explicit In his last note to Peru | gy . ims wite Captures Third Man, Who Locked Husband in Cell.
