Yaden was elected presi- dent of the District of Columbia Public | School Association at the final meet- ing of the season, in the District Build- \iing last night. !"Mr. Yaden was| elected to succeed Brig. Gen. S. T. Ansell and his term of office be-! gins in July. Mrs. Giles Scott Rafter was re- eclected first vice president; George A. Warren was elected second vice president, and Walter Irey and Mrs. Carrie Golden Smith were re- elected secreta; and treasu spective MR. YADEN. Charles M. Put nam, assistant treasurer. The following were elected as mem- bers at large of the executive com- mittee: Dr. A. R. Collins, Mrs. Jultn West Mrs. Danlel Murray, Mrs. Scott and Thomas W. “uhor! The proposed change in the onstitution may not be made before October, it was stated. Also there is a proposed change in {the constitution to provide for a pro gram and a_schoolhouse planning committee. C. Stelzer; recreation, Edward L. Griffin; school expansion, Jobn T. Thomas, and school person- Del, M. A. Robbins. The names of the officers elected were presented by a mnominating committee composed of Walter Irey, George A. Warren and Mrs: Danfel Murray. Urge Lenman Tract Purchase. The association adopted a resolu- tion to request the school authorities fo try to secure the purchase of the Lenman tract, at Fourteenth and Dgden streets, for school or play- ground purposes at the earliest pos- sible moment, the resolution having been introduced by Mrs. Lucy Swan- ton. Another resolution was adopted éxpressing regret at the recent death of Commissioner Oyster and the ap- preciation of the assoclation for the long and valuable ‘service that he rendered the District. A heated discussion, lasting nearly an hour, ensued as to whether or mot the association should make a recommendation to the District Su- preme Court for the appointment of members to the Board of Education to succeed those members whose terms expire June 30. Following the adoption of a resolution in this re- gard, its reconsideration, rescinding and the defeat of another resolution, §t was decided to take no action in the matter. Ira B.
