W. W. Kirhy will close his activities as general superintendent of the Ninth Street Christian Sunday school tomorrow morning, due to his absence from the city for a vear. He has been superintendent of the school for more than six vears, during which time the school has grown to be the second largest in the city and the largest of the Disciples of Christ in the East, the average attendance since last October 1 being a thousand per Sunday. CHURCH SITE PURCHASED Catholic Cathedral to Be Built at Cost of $6,000,000. Special Dispatch to The Star. BALTIMORE, May 30.—Ground for the new $6,000,000 Catholic Cathedral here was purchased this week by the trustees of the will of the late Thom- as O'Neill, Baltimore department store owner, who left two-thirds of his_estate for this purpose. The property, which consists of 15 acres, is located on Charles Street avenue, just beyond the Johns Hop- kins University. Mr. O'Neill died in April, 1919, leaving an estate of about $6.000,000. It is said that the sum which may be available for the cathedral, as representing two-thirds of the estate, is likely to be in the mneighborhood of $5.000,000 by the time the ca- thedral is built, while the other mil- lion will be made up by the diocese. BIBLE SCHOOLS PLANNED. Successful Summer Classes Ares Expected This Year. A successful season in Summer Bible school work is expected this Summer. Many schools are lining up for active work. These schools, which are being organized for the definite study of the Bible by the children of the city of ‘Washington and vicinity, are those whose special feature is the elimina- tion of the usual craftwork and me- chanics and the substitution of a sys- tem of stars as credits for efficient study and attendance and a diploma at the completion of the course. The committee has arranged a program of operation and a suitable curriculum and are now establishing schools in all parts of the city. Many are plan- ning and are doing good work. The plan is to conduct a flve-week course during this Summer beginning June 22 An_institute for workers will be held next Thursday in Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and an institute and conference will be held June 15 at 7:30 in St. Stephen’s Parish Hall, and June 16, at 7:30, in the same parish hall, Dr. G.
