All the currency was in Buffalo serfes $10 bills. It was found in the original packets in an o0ld suit case in a garage. Those arrested were August Leh- mann, car cleaner, employed by the Pennsylvania Raiiread Co., who is charged with robbing United States maile, and Herman Reis, alias Riece, alias Chuck Conners. Reis is charged with receiving and passing bills known to have been stolen from the malls. Post office inspectors said that there may be further arrests of persons who peddled the bills after they h been stolen by Lehmann from a mall pouch. Shipped From Washington. R JAPAN FAVORS PROPOSED AIR ROUTE OVER POLE Sees Commercial Advantage in Quicker Communication ‘With Europe. Correspondence of the Associated Prers BERLIN, March $.—Germany, the | Scandinavian countries and Japan all are showing interest in & proposal to operate an &ir route over the North Pole area from the coast of Russia to Alaska. The idea is not particalarly new, but it has been revived recently because of the improvements, of late vears, in airship censtruction. It is understood that Dr. Fridtjof Neasen has offered to lead such an enterprise, under international support. An airship a little larger than the Los Angeles is contemplated for the run. May is regarded as the best month in which to start. Murmansk, on the north coast of Russla, would be the European point of departure. The sroute would be over Emperor Francis Joseph Land to the pole and then over the unkpown territory of North Canada to Alaska. The return trip would be over Bering Strait, Wrangel Island, De Long Island ard the unexplored territory of Nova Zembla. The Japanese are especially inter- ested because success might result in quicker communication between Eu- rope and Japan. s VOTING FRAUD STOPPED. Uruguay's New Balloting System Proves Effective.
