E. Body Favors Union With Church in South. Hpecial Dispatch to The Star, BALTIMORE, March 28.—The Mary- land conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which meets in An- napolls next Wednesday, will vote almost unanimously in favor of the proposed unification with the Metho- dist Church, South according to Rev. Don S. Colt, district superintendent in this city. This will be hte princi- pal question to confront the confer- ence, Mr. Colt said. Both branches of the Methodist Episcopal Church throughout the country are now voting on the pro- posed uniting of the two into one body. Whether or not the two bodies will be united depends on the votes cast during “the conferences held this Spring, he sald. The matter will be decided not by a vote of the individual conferences, but by a vote of the total membership of all an- nual conferences. A three-quarters majority is necessary for passage of the proposal. The opinion was expressed that the rejection by the Washington confer- ence will have a strong influence upon the action of the other confer- ehces of the Southern Methodlsts. It is believed that other conferences will not want to vote contrary to the wishes of the border organization DR. MONTGOMERY—BACK. Acoepts Pastorate of Calvary Church for Tenth Year. Rev. On the invitation of the Bishop of Washington about 60 prominent woman members of the Episcopal Church in this city. met last Tuesday morning at the residence of Mrs. Alexander Mackay-Smith on 16th street and listened to an address by Dr. R. B. Teusler, superintendent of St. Luke's Hospital, Tokio, Japan, who told of his experiences in the Far East and especially those in reference to the work at St. Luke’s since its bufldings were destroyed by the earthuake and fire in September, 1923. Dr. Teusler was not in Japan at the time of the disaster but returned at once. He found the hospital “carry- ing on” in tents loaned by the United States Army and in sheds erected by the Japanese Government. The hos- pital has continued its work although badly handicapped by the lack of per- manent bufldings. The meeting was in the interest of the campaign to be conducted here late in April to raise the share of the Diocese of Washington toward a fund of $2,500,000 to be raised through- out the Episcopal Church to rebuild the buildings of the church’'s mission in Tokio. These included a school for boys and one for girls, a uni- versity, the hospital with its training school for nurses, seven churches, numerous kindergartens and quarters for the workers. The campaign will be conducted by teams of men and women numbering more than 300 in all. There will be an equal number of man workers and of women. The campaign will start EPISCOPAL.
