J., March —Charges were made last night at a meeting of 2,000 Hungarians attended by Count Michael Karolyi that all but $280 of a $3,800 fund collected for his cause in 1914 had disappeared. Joseph | Nagy of New Brunswick sald that the fund was collected when the count vis- fted the city in 1914, and that though mnone of it was turned over to him, only $280 is left. Karolyl refused to comment on the charge. The committee in charge of the fund sald it would welcome an Investigation. CHILD SAVES MOTHER. Turns Off Gas With Which She Planned to Die. €HICAGO, March 23.—Mrs. Clara Storch, mother of four young children was saved from death when her son, Martin, aged 11, turned off the gas with which she had attempted suicide, and summoned neighbors to revive her. KANSAS CITY, Kans, March 23. —Hope of saving the life of nine mouths old Arahvilla Jane Malone, who swallowed an open safty pin last Thursday at Muskogee, Okla., and was rushed - here to Bell Memorial Hospital, was expressed by physicians last night. The pin, which lodged in the infant'’s throat, dropped into the stomach shortly after she was brought to the hospital early this morning. Physicians expressed the belief that the pin would pass through the Intestinal tract of its own accord within 48 hours, mak- ing an operation unnecessary. Hospital attendants last night were taking every precaution to prevent the baby from developing pneumonia.
