Associated Press. LONDON, February 11.— People throughout the world would be able to keep their tempers and be endowed with better tempers generally if they did not eat so much, in the opinion of Dr. Leonard Hill, an expert on diste- ties who advocated fasting as an aid to health. The great virtue for most persons lles in abstinence and even in fasting Dr. Hill toid members of the People’s League of Health at the Medicul So- clety here recently. It is fallacy, said the doctor, to believe that it is pos- sible to feed people into strength what is more apt to happen is de- rangement of the digestive organs Dr. Hill explained this had been proven by various cxperiments in the |laboratories of the Medical Research ! Council, where mice were fed on va- | rious diets. Given liberal amounts of food, they became sleek, lazy and in- ert. Forced to fast for two days a week, they became very active Dr. Hill said he w: in favor of imposing a tax on white bread, on the theory that whole wheat or whole grain bread was superior to the other kind and because it would edd 200 per cent to the nationa! food supply of Great Britain. Much less meat should be eaten, the doctor asserted. The reason so much meat is being consumed everywhere was because it appealed especially to sedentary July Snd to August 30th workers, as it gave them a feeling of Ask for Itinerary warmth.
