Airplane ‘Dusting’ A For ‘Dusting’ Apple Trees in Virginia WINCHESTER, Va., February 25. —Federal Agricultural Depart- ment authorities have been re- quested by Director General W. A. Ryan of the Winchester apple blossom festival, to be held this spring, to send one or more air- planes here for demonstration purposes in dusting orchards for pest eradication. Oliver I. Snapp of this city, a Federal entomolo- gist stationed at Fort Valley, Ga., sald Goverrnment officials have perfected an airplane that gives out a satisfactory stream of dust for peach orchards. Dusting of orchards by airplane, instead of using the old-time spraying ap- paratus, is said to be growing in favor in Georgia.
