France, 72 years old, long prominent in Methodist ministerial ofreles of this city, died at his residence, 1665 Harvard -treet, erday. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage. Rev. Dr. France, who was formerly nastor of Trinity M. E. Church and Grace M. E. Church of this city for he last 10 years, had been presi- dent of the Lucy Webb Hayes' Train- ng School, a school for deaconesses church secretarles and other church workers. As president of the school Sibley Memorial Hospital also came under his jurisdiction. By the Associated Press ' NEW YORK, January 26.—Ten policemen spent one hour today in carrying Mrs. Hilda Jacobson, who weighed 500 pounds, down one flight of stairs on her way to a hospital, but despite their efforts to save her, she dled of heart disease on the sccond floor landing of her home. Mrs. Jacobson, who was 50, had long been suffering from her trouble, and had not been out of her apart- ment for six years, or out of bed for three vears. Tasney, a vice president of the Prudential Insurance Company, died here at the age of 61. He was taken ill January 21, and pneumonia developed Saturday. Mr. Tasney entered the insurance business as an agent and collector. He became assistant superintendent, a general superintendant on the Pacific coast, general superintendent of New Jersey, and then vice presi- dent of the Prudential.
