Justice Hoehling of the District Supreme Court has denied a re- quest of James O. STATE CURB URGED ONELECTION FUNDS Caraway Would Limit Ex- penditures to Place Where Collected. The collection of campaign funds in one State to be used in another State would be made lllegai under a proposal by Benator Caraway of Arkansas, Dem- ocrat, at & meeting of the Senate com- mittee on campaign expenditures Fri- day. Action on the proposal was deferred pending determination as to whether the investigation begun in the closing days of the last campaign is to be con- tinued. Samuel Untermyer of New York, who was assoclated with Frank P. Walsh of Kansas City, personal counsél for Senator Robert M. La Follette us the independent candidate for President, will be told, committeemen said, that if he C, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1924. desires to present evidence, document- ary therwise, regarding the “mys- tery’” ‘story, told by the Chicago wit~ nesses, the committee will receive it. Senator Caraway said it was contrary to public policy for such a practice to be continued. He declared that if per- gons in one State hoped to gain no ad- vantage by contributing for expendi- tures in another State they ehould not be asked for maney, and that if they did have something to gain the practice should be stopped since the result would only compound an undue Influence which they already have. Wants Gdvernment to Pay. Another proposal put forward by the Arkansas Senator was that the entire expenditures to be made by a political party be limjted at so much per voter, and that the Federal Government de- tray the campaign costs. His proposed bill would make it a felony for any can- didate or officer of m party to receive any contributions from any private source. Senator Caraway emphasized that ‘he law he suggests would have no relation 1o the control of elections, which would be left wholly to the States s at pres- ent. 3-YEAR PRISON TERM. Cobb at the point of a pistol August 17 last. He failed to get Cobb’s money. The sentence is the maximum under the law for a first offense of transporting. Of 150 horseshoers who were do- ing business in New Orleans 10 years ago only 26 followers of the craft are left. Reproduced from the Saturday Evening Post of This Week CIENCE has found the right way to heat with oil. And proved it for five years. This way is radically different from" the old- fashioned methods. It will interest you to see this oil burner that has solved the problem. You need know nothing of mechanics to understand it. So far as nearly 20,000 present owners are concerned there is no heating problem. Their homes are always exactly the temperature they enjoy, They smell no fumes. They see no dirt or dust. They hear no unpleasant noise. They know that it is s fe beyond question. You, too, will have this experience when you heat your home this scientific way. One right way to burn oil Four new facts about oil burning were first used by our engineers six years ago. They are the now famous four natural laws. They ex- plained the difficulties others were having in trying to burn oil. So we built an oil burner in accordance with those laws. For five winters now, Qil-O-Matic has answered every demand in thousands of homes, large and small. When you buy an oil burnersee that it agrees with these laws. If you follow them you can- not go wrong. B or-;l.hblots P ASBirin The'Bayer Cross™on Genuine Tablets The four famous laws The first law says that oil must be broken up into a fine mist. So fine, it will float like a fog. All other ways violate this law. After the oil is broken up, the second law demands that it be burned before it touches anything. Car- bon and soot will surely result otherwise. So no plates, pots, chamber or any part of an oil burner should be inside your furnace or boiler. According to the third law, the amount of air that is mixed ‘with the oil must be exact. Naturally this cannot be left to someone’s opening or closing a damper. The oil burner itself must measure the amount of air. ‘The fourth law is just as important. Oil cannot bura perfectly withoutreflected heat. Sounlessthe firebox of your heating plant 1o is lined with brick, it is impossible to get perfect combustion. Y .,‘_’!" It is this way of burning oil that has made the use of fuel ’ ‘il really successful for heating homes. It is the method found - oaly in Oil-O-Matic. " Note these exclusive features ‘There are other festures that make Oil-O-Matic different from any other device that hests homes with oil.
