PACKAGE RECEIVING 'ROOM 15 PROPOSED Plan in Office and Apartment t Buildings Urged to Save * Time on Deliveries. A receiving room on the first floor of all large office and apartment buildings for the distribution of packages and the prevention of gestion ir merchandise delivel suggested in a letter sent to the ‘Washington Real Estate Board by the Merchants and ufacturers’ Asso- ciation. Tt is pointed out that a great *saving economically through the les- sening of trips in the buildings and decrease in elevator operation would result if the plan is adopted The letter, addressed to John S. Petty, executivii secretary of the Washir.gton Reual Estate Board, reads as follows: “The downtown and business sections and the great apart- ments and office buildings demand a speeding up of 21l Buman facilities. livers Real Problem. v is one of the of the retail- s well. A package recelving room would eliminate hundreds of trips daily throughout a building, making an economy in elevator opcration and wear and tear on the building. It would reduce the cost of delivery and would certainly be a distinct saving from every stand- point to the public. “Will you not do us the courtesy of making a survey of this matter with your various interests with a view of letting us have u list of the office buildings. apartments and hotels where a recceiving room service is now in operation. “May we further have an assurance from your organization that you will ur influence bohind ‘the further ithment of such receiving rooms. will be a real step forward in practical cconomy and efficient serv- ico. which must be the aim of all worth-while instrumentalities.”” e Sand for Coloring Stueco. Stucco can be colored in two ways —by the use of mineral pigments or colored sands. The latter method is preferable. And for colored stucco— and by this is meant also the lighter shades and tints—white Portland cement makes possible true color values. ' The ordinary.gray cement ahsorbs and obscures the tonme.
