NEW YORK, July 12—The feature of the trading in bonds during the day’s short session was again found in the foreign group, where\Brazil issues were heavily soid on further reports as to the progress of the insurrection in that country. Dealings were in much large volume than at any time since.the dirorder first broke out. A block of 240 Brazil' 88 was thrown over directly at the opening for a new low _on this decline, and Brazil's 7s, the "Central Rallway Electrification Loan, which have been re! ively the weakest of all the Brazil Issues, sold down 3 points on the first transaction. The news, as far as Wall street had it, was no more alarming than yester- day, and from some sources it was in fact more encouraging. Ofher Insues Strong. Other foreign bonds were not much affected by the weakness in the Bra- Bolivia 8s ere heavy, but ropean issues weke generally firm, with higher prices for some of the Dutch East Indies bond Changes on the week in the foreign list have been gular. If, however, money¥continues to progress toward lower levels it is dificult to see how there can be any substantial reactions in bonds and the withdrawal by the -Treasury Depart- ment of savings certificates from sale on the ground that the market did not warrant the government paying 412 per ceént on these securities when unds could be obtained cheaper in e open market would indicate that the responsible officials did not ex- pect higher money rat, In the speculative rails today there was some selling of Missouri Pacific General 49 as well as the refunding 58 of 1 and refunding 6s. No reason for this can be found in the progress of the company, Missouri Pacific being onc of the Siriking ex- ceptions to the general trend toward lower earnings. CHICAGO, July 12.—Fresh advances in the price of wheat took place to- day during the early dealings, crop reports both from Canada and E rope having a decidedly bullis aspect. Ome expert telegraphing from Saskatoon in Canada said that through a drive of 130 miles he found much of the crop was badly fired. The fact that only scattered showers were predicted for the Canadian wheat belt today did a good deal to stimulate buying.
