Consumers of forest products in Amer- ica, and especially prospective home builders, are reminded that July 1 marked the beginning of a new era in lumber manufacturing by the report of the National Lumber Manufacturers’ As- sociation. Beginning with July 1 the system of American lumber standards worked out among the manufacturers distributers and consumers of dumber in co-operation with the Department of Commerce, becomes effective, and the public may expect to begin reaping the benefit not only of a saving estimated by Secretary Hoover at $250,000,000 a year, but what is of even more impor- tance, there will be instituted a sweep- ing simplification of manufacturing and distributing practices in the lumber in- dustry that will be universally felt, states the report.
