Rod La Roque has the unique role of a hero, who is really at heart a coward. Through at least three- fourths of the picture he keeps you guessing whether or not he is going to redeem himself and prove his man- hood. The plot hinges on the so- called “power of inheritance.” The boy's father was a coward before him, deserting his post on a light- house ship during a_stormy night at sca, and thus causing a big ocean liner to be lost with all on board. Jacqueline Logan has the role of the Eirl. who torough her trust and devo- tion succeeds in helping Rod to dizpel the illusion that he must go through life burdened with his fa- ther's reputation for cowardice. Scorned by every one, refused work whereby he could suport himself and mother, because of his many exhibi- tions of “the vellow streak,” it is the girl who gets him an appoint- ment_on the very ship where his father shamed himself, thus offering him his big_chance for redemption, which he finally accomplishes by rescuing the girl he loves and re- fusing to leave a shipwrecked yacht until all hands are saved.
