BY GEORGE T. HUGHES. Special Dispateh to The Star, NEW YORK, March 26.—Genuine in- vestment buying in larger volume and of better quality than in a long time appeared in today's bond market. Price changes in transactions, both over the counter and on the exchange, were not large, but the trend was en- couraging. Bonds ylelding from 5% to 6 per cent were in the' greatest de- mand. Libertys were firm after the de- cline of late Tuesday. High-grade sav- ings bank railroad issues werse steady. Speculative Grodp Feature. In the speculative group the fea- ture was again the St. Paul bonds. There was active trading in the 4s of 1925 around the new high on this movement. The convertible 413s of 1932 were nevt in_activity. All the other junior St. Paul bonds were higher. Seaboard Air Line issues were likewise active, with the 6s reacting slightly, while the adjust- ments _went higher. International Great Northern 6s were other vorites of the day, making a new high for the vear. Among the tractions Brooklyn Man- n Transit 65 claimed the great- est attention. Kilgore, head of the special committee, in & statement issued last night. “The fizures in the August, 1922, census cotton report referred to I 1. Hester,” Mr. Kilgore said, “were 9,000 bales entered in the part of report containing the items of cupply for cotton under the head ‘to| balance distribution.’ These figures! were reduced by the committee to| 335,000 bales with the statement that they might contain further duplica tions which the committee had not found in the time it had had for the investigation.
