NEW YORK, March 7.—One hun- dred and sixty persons were arrested and more than 600 “silent salesmen” slot machines were seized by the police in a series of raids in twenty- four hours, officers announced last night. Hundreds of machines were saved from falling into the hands of the raiders by unidentified persons in motor trucks, who drove from store to_store collccting the ‘“salesmen” before the raiders arrived. Some of the machines, the police found, were in storés near public schoois, where they reaped a harvest from pupils anxious to get “some- thing for nothing.” .
