Broad powers of regulation and | control over radlo transmitting sta- tions, with a view to reducing inter- ference and developing “an orderly system of communlication,” would be giver the Secretary of Commerce un- der the terms of a bill introduced in the Hlouse today by Representative Wallace White of Matne. The first three sections of the bill follow closely the same sections of the measure introduced by Repre- sentative White In the last Congress and are in substance a redraft of the first three sections of the 1912 law. The bill fixes a time for which a lcense muy be granted, and provides for un advisory committee of fifteen members, to whom the Secretury of Commerce may refer for examination and report problems arising in radio. It ddes not require licenses for re- celving sets mor does it attempt to exercise control over them. Wave Lengths and Power. By the Associated Press. BOSTON, February 28.—The steamer Leviathan was found today to have suffered serious damage from running aground last September in New York harbor. When the water was drained away fro mthe hull in the dry dock it was apparent that she had fared worse than had been supposed. The steamer's plates were twisted and torn over an area of about 220 feet long and 10 feet wide. In four or five places the hull was plerced through and a groove a foot deep had 1 been cut for ten feet along one side of the keel. No official estimate was forthcom- ing as to the probable cost of repairs. PRISONER’S INJURIES | RESULT IN HIS DEATH Edward Davis, Colored, Said to Have Fallen in Running From Policeman. Edward Davis, colored, 1626 G5th strect northwest, dled last night at Gallinger Hospital from injuries re- celved when he tried to escape after having been found with money and clgarettes In a store on 6th street at 3 o'clock Monday morning. Davis, it is stated, jumped from a window and ran when Policeman C. L. Gibbon of No. 2 precinct discovered him in the store. After running a short distance he fell and hurt himself, but not enough to prevent him from putting up a fight when the policeman came up with him. How Gibbon dealt with his prisoner was not made clear today, but following his capture the man - | was charged with burglary and taken to Gallinger Hospital, where he died last night.
