The weapon contained three cart- jridges, and these were fired at the guards, who immediately returned the fire. The bodies of the conviets were loaded on a truck and returned to the penitentiary. First Intimation of the whereabouts of the fugitives reached prison au- thorities about 6 p.m., where Robert Rush, a dairyman residing near I ported that his dog had been acting queerly all afternoon. The prison guards hopped in auto- moblles and drove to the place. The headlights of the cars were trained on the haystack, and this brought fire from the convicts. BUCHANAN FILES PROTEST Declares Commission Guilty of Dis- loyalty to Assemblies. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, February 5.—The mod- ernist preachings of Rev. Dr. Edgar Whitaker Work, pas- tor of Fourth Church and chairman of the investigating committee, set forth fts reason for upholding Rev. Dr=Fosdick's preachings. Rev. Dr. Bucanan's protest was based on three counts. The first was that ap- proval of Rev. Dr. Fosdick's preach- ing did not carry out the mandate of the General Assembly at Indianapolis’ in 1923; that Rev. Dr. Fosdick had not made a clear declaration of be- lief in the testaments, the virgin birth, the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross, the resurrection and the miracles,’and that the commit- tee's report was founded on hearsay, Rev. Dr. Work having admitted he never had heard Rev. Dr. Fosdick preach. This Cloth Testing Machine is used in the Domestic Science Department of one of the leading Universities.* With it, experts re- cently tested what soap flakes do to the strength of fabrics. That test means a lot to you—and to your clothes. ‘The test is a simple one—but scientific and very accurate. The experts cut a piece of nainsook into strips. They left one unwashed. The other strips they washed with different brands of soap flakes, ac- cording to the makers’ directions, under the same conditions of temperature, rinsing, etc. Then, one by one, all these samples were tested in the Cloth Testing Machine. The instrument, with an accurate and even pull on every thread, strained each square of cloth until it broke. The dial of the machine automatically registered the exact point of breaking. - After testing nainsook, they tested also silk and wool, 1280 tests in all. These careful and impartial tests prove that the FAB way is the better way to wash. They show by actual figures that materials washed with FAB wear better. FAB, you see, is the safe soap flakes for all your washing. FAB is made with cocoanut- oil, that is so gentle, and yet so sudsy and cleansing. FAB flakes dissolve at once and completely in water. They make a rich, plentiful suds that flow freely back and forth through the fabric. It’s these free-flowing FAB suds that take out the dirt and restore dainty cleanness. And FAB will not “run” colors that are fast in plain warm water, under the same conditions. Why not start now to enjoy the advantages of FAB? It is so easy and safe to use for your washing.
