He was director of the mint, and later as- sistant secretary of the Treasury. He served in France for four and one-half years continuously during the world war. Members of the Baptist congrega- tion have no intention of taking the 1aw into their own hands, it is stated, but express the belief that if law- lessness {s to be checked it must be done in a large meusure by Christian men and women.
