Turkeys, live and dressed, were much in evidence this morning. Re- ceipts are fairly heavy, according to reports, and prices are the same as vesterday, 30 to 35 cents, making a retail market of 40 to 45 cents. Dealers this morning expressed the belief that there will not be much ichange In prices before Christmas. Reports from other ties indicate cheaper Christmas prices than those which prevailed during the Thanksgiv- ing holiday season. Chickens, ducks/and geese are re- ported as ®eing plentiful and reason. able. NEW YORK, December 19.—The bond market was irregular again to- day, with firmness In high-grade se- curities combined with reaction in some-of the more speculative issues. The chief point of weakness today, as on Tuesday, was the St. Paul bonds, and there was no other explanation than that of selling to record losses for income tax purposes. New low records were made for a number of the junier llens, with especial weak- ness in the gold 4s of 1925 in the D 4s of 1934, which at one time were down nearly # points; in the con- vertible 43:s of 1932, which lost a point and a half, and to a less degree’| in the long-tesm convertible 5s and refunding 41s. Chicago, Terre Hante and Southeastern refunding 55, on the other hand, galned sharply, running up 2 point, Other railroad bonds to sell lower included Wilkes-Barre and Eastern first 63, down more than two points. This bond is secured by first lien on part of the Susquehanna system. Earn- Ings of the parent company have not made a good showing for a Jong time, which probably explains why the bonds sell to vield more than 10 per cent annuaily. Chicago and Alton 3tus were fractionally lower, al- though here earnings are extraordi- narily good. There is, however, no tmmediate ct of u lifting of the receiv 6 and it will take more than one Year of profitable op- eratlon to restore an Investment reorganization BY STUART P.
