NEW YORK, December 6.—The largest ~transoceanic cable ever manufactured, supplying virtually instantaneous communication be- tween two continents, has been put into service between New York and Parls by the Postal Telegraph Commercial Cables system, Clar- ence H. Mackay, president of the company, has announced. The cable provides the fastest communication ever devised be- tween the United States and con- tinental Europe, Mr. Mackay said. PHILADELPHIA, December 6.— Istablishment of a direct passenger steamship service between Philadel- phia, Londonderry and Glasgow by the Cunard-Anchor Line, the first of its kind since the days of ‘the famous clipper ships more than half a cen- tury ago, was announced today by Director Sproule of the department of wharves, docks and ferries.
