FINANCIAL., NEW YORK CURB MARKET Recelved by Private Wire Direct to The Star Office BY WILLIAM F. HEFFERNAN, NEW YORK, October 29.—Prairie Oil and Gas stock responded to re- ports that the company had offered to take over the controlling interest in Producers and Refiners' Corpora- tion on the basis of one share of the former company's stock for ten of Producers. But the initial advance ©of 4 points to 190 failed to be main- talned. When it was realized that| the “good news" was out, realizing | sales promptly made their appear- ance in the market, with the result that the stock dropped to 182. | 2 Trading generally started the new | week in much the same manner as it | had left off Saturday. Other oils | were not as well supported. Standard Oil and Standard of Indiana were also heavy, but the latter later hardened was dealt in at 55 most of the time. Considerable interest was again mani- fest in Mutual Oil, large blocks changing hands, but around previous- 1y prevailing quotations. Although Park & Tilford continued comparatively active, there was no sign of any revival of the upward movement. Evidently the objective of the campaign in this stock was reached with the publication of the | figures showing the results under the new management—a net estimated for the five months ending December 31 of $500,000, or $5 & share on the capital stock outstanding. It could not be said, however, that ss was apparent in st, while, on the bid prices up. 214 | ready for the important winter auto nd, little effort was made to | THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D.
