KATE D. BARSTOW DIES AT HER HOME IN THIS CITY One /st First Women to Practice ‘Medicine in Washington Suc- cumbs at Age of 87. Dr. Kate D. Barstow, one of the first woman medical ‘practitioners in ‘Washington, died yesterday at her residence, 223 13th street southwes The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, at 2 o'clock, from Zur- horst’s undertaking establishment, 301 East Capitol street. The interment will be in Congressional cemetery. Dr. Barstow was elghty-seven years old. She had been a. resident of Washington for sixty years, most of the time devoting her time to the practice of her profession. She was {a graduate of the Homeopathic Medi- School and a member of the Wash- ington Medical Society of that school {of mudicine. She was a member of Marvin Methodist Episcopal Church, 10th and B streets southwest. She was the widow of William Barsto who during his life was well know in this, city in real estate and frater- nal circles. Dr. Barstow retired from active practice ten years ago, devoting the last years of her life to various jcharities. In her professional career ishe was a friend of the poor, giving her services day and night to those ;umhle to pay for professional serv- ces. Dr. Barstow is survived by these children: Miss Sarah M.
