A site on 16th street is to be pur- chased next week by the Hamline and Jowa Avenue M. E. churches, on which will be erected a church for the combined congregations. Upon purchasing the site plans will be made immediately for the erection of an edifice to cost between $400,000 and $450,000. Dr. Earle Wiifley will tell of his observations at the convention. “Recent Phases of Faith Healing” will be the subject of Dr. Wilfley to- morrow morning. At the evening gervice he will speak on “Some New Thing.” DETROIT PASTOR SPEAKS. Dr. Vance Heard by Federation on “Church and Community.” The meeting of the Pastors’' Federa- | tion this week was addressed by Dr. Joseph A. Vance, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Detroit. There was a large attendance, and the address was of a very high order, the speaker’s theme belng “The Church and the Community.” Dr. W. L. Darby was elected secretary for the ensuing year. \ The body ‘expressed - its fraternal | congratulations to Rev. Dr. J, Freeman upon his election as third Bishop of Washington. A committee consisting of the President, Rev. J. J. Dimon, Dr. G. W. Diffenderfer and Dr. J. J. Muir was appointed to prepare a’ suitable resolution and present it to Bishop Freeman at an early date. A number of new ministers were enrolled upon recommendation of the membership committee chairman, Rev. J. Paul Langhorne. The next meeting will be held November 26. Mr. Anderson was born in Boston, Mass., and educated in the public schools. He was for five years with the Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company. Was prepared for the ministry at the Berkeley Preparatory School and by private tutors.
