Mrs. Samson was born January 13, 1849, She was the daughter of the late Marianne Brown and Henry Polkinhorn, the latter a long-time resident of the District and at one time owner of the National Intel- legencer. Mrs. Samson was the widow of Dr. George Clement Bamson, a native Washingtonian. He was the son of the! late George W. Samson, president of of Columbian College, '1859-71, now George Washington University. Mrs. Samson was actively engaged in religious, philanthropic and pa- triotic_work, being a member of the First Baptist Church, life member of the Woman's American Baptist Home Mission Soclety, a lineal descendant of James Askle, a captain in the revolutionary war also charter mem- ber of Our Flag Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, District of Columbia. Alleging that Louis S. Fennell falsely accused him to his wife of intimacy with another woman and thereby allenated her affections so that she brought sult for divorce against him and refused to live with him for two years, Charles Dietz terday sued Pennell for $50,000 mages.
