CONTROL OF SILVER BY U.. 15 SOUGHT Pan-American Parley in Reno May Dethrone London as Price-Fixing Center. BY FREDERIC WILLIAM WILE, To transfer control of the world's sil- ver market from England to the United States is one of the primary purposes of 4 pan-American conference on silver to be held at Reno in August. The con- ference will be held under the official auspices of the gold and silver investi- gating commission appointed by the United States Senate on the last day of the late Congress. The chairman of the commission Senator Tasker L. Oddie of Nevada. The other members of the senatorial commission are Messrs. Walsh of Montana, Sterling of South Dakota, man of Nevada and Good- ing of Idaho. Formation of a silver export associa- tion and formulation of plans for vigor- ous representation of silver interests in is Congress on farm bloc lines will also | be discussed at Reno. All of the silver- producing states of North, Central and South America will participate in the meeting, which is the first attempt ever made to league them for common etion Not all of them may favor the idea of dethroning London &3 the world's s center.
