BRIDGEPORT, Conn., Juns 18.— The ald of the states in enforcing federal laws is regarded as neces- sary by Homer S Cummings, former chairman of the democratic national committee, in an address here last mnight at a meeting under the auspices of the ministerial assoclation, he said: “If the various states do not sup- port and supplement the government, the problem of law enforcement will become exceedingly difficult. | “It is perfectly mahifest that the United States government cannot successfully police the entire United States. Yesterday ehe died at her home as the result of self-inflicted knife wounds. “I am sick and can't get well, and tired of living: won’'t you please, Mr. Governor, hear my plea and allow me to be electrocuted or drugged to death?” the young woman wrote, The executive arranged that she be treat- ed at a hospital.
