" FRAT PIN ORDER CLUE IN STUDENT’S DEATH State Renews Probe Into Mystery Killing of Leighton Mount in College Class Fight. By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, May 31.—Finding of a water-soaked piece of cardboard, thought to be an order ticket for a fraternity pin, which- was found in the sand under the Evanston pler. ngar the spot where a skeleton, be- lieved to be that of Leighton Mount, missing Northwestern University stu- | dent, was found, has started authori- ties again on an attempted solution of the mystery. - After weeks of investigation ended without clearing the mystery which | began when Mount disappeared fol- lowing a class rush nearly two years ago. the state attorney's office began a search about the spot where the skeleton was found a month ago. The piece of cardboard, bearing the name of “the Crest Company” and an undecipherable number. was found after several teeth, missing from the skeleton, and later identified by a aentist as those of Mount, had been unearthed Police and attorneys believe the cardboard was dropped by the person or persons who they feel sure hid Mount's body after he had been fataily injured in the class rush. The condi- tion of the cardboard indicates that it was left there a comparatively short time azo and would bear out the theory of some that Mount's body had been’taken to the pier from an- other hiding place. Roscoe Conkling Fitch. Mount's roommate, has been recalled from his home in Ludington, Mich., where he went after leaving the School re- cently, due to what he declared were threats azainst him because of testi- ! mony he had given in the case. The state attorney’s office desires to fur- ther question him regarding the card and other clues which are said to ‘ha\e been discovered while digging under the pier. ATLAY Carolina_ave. May 31L—Hope is felt in official circles that the mixed com- mission entrusted with solving the difficulties arising between Italy and Jugoslavia over the application of the treaty of Rapallo and the agree- ments of Santa Margherita will bring its work to a favorable conclusion now that the sittings will take place in Rome. The opinion is prevalent that the chief hindrance at former meetings was that they were held in Abbazi which is too close to the territory under discussion to afford that dis- passionate consideration which is necessary for discussions to be frult- ul. Meantime there have been numer- ous exchanges of views between the two governments, considerably clari- fying the situation. T 1J. W. FOLK RITES TODAY.
