Me | Vienna, FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 1923. JOHN T. CONNORS DEAD. | U, S. Retires Hero Plate Printer Was Employed at Bu- reau Thirty-Thyee Years. John T. Connors, for thirty-three years employed as a plate printer in the burcau of engraving and printing in this city, died Wednesday at his home, 9 Randolph street northwest. Funeral services will bu held at the family home tomorrow morning at 8:30 o'clock, following which solemn requiem mass will be said for the re- pose of the soul at St. Martin's Church, North Capitol and T street, Rev. F, X. Cavanaugh celebrating the mass. Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Mr. Connors was a native of St Louis, Mo. He came tc Washington when a young man, and has made this city his home since. He was fifty- seven years old. He was a member of the Plate Printers’ Union and Poto- mac Council, National Union. He took a keen interest in organized labor and the efforts of the national and local movement of labor to better conditions of all wage workers. He was held in the highest esteem among his fellow workers at the bureau and the officials there. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen E. Connors, and two brothers, Michael and James Con- nors. When yellow fever appeared in 1900 among the troops at Colum- bia barracks, Cuba, sald the sur- geon general of the Army in a summary of Folk's services, Pri- vate Foik volunteered to nurse the patients with the dread diseasc He served as a volunteer for ex- perimentation, slept in a room with bedding from patients sick with yellow fever, submitted to inoculation from mosquitoes in- fected with the disease, and con- tracted it.
