CATHEDRAL WORK | - IS BEING PUSHED Bishop Harding, in Annual | Report, Tells of Progress in Building. | In his annual report to the members of the National Cathedral Assoclation, Rt. Rev. Alfred Harding, Bishop of Washington, regarding the cathedral, says: “We are glad to inform you that we are now laying in all the foundation of the great structure, and that through the generosity of two friends of the cathedral we are erecting a| portion of the choir. Work on the, building should never be allowed to cease until the whole fabric is com- eted, s0 we are asking all our riends to help us by bringing the matter to the attention of others who may be interested and by remem- ‘bering our undertaking in their pray- ers. We are convinced that this wit- ness for Christ In _the capital of our nation will be a potent agency in 1ift- ing the minds of men to spiritual realities, and so counteracting the trend to materialism.” The lower tier of concrete structure for the foundations has already been laid throughout the length of the building, and the upper portions of concrete work are rising rapldly. At the same time the stonework for the . walls of the sanctuary is being erect- ad over the whole length of the . Bethlehem Chapel, the foundations for, First Presbyterian Church Plans which were laid several years ago. The George A. Fuller Construction Company has a contract for the erec- tion of the foundations and sanctuary walls, and, as the bishop states In ®is report. it is hoped to continue work until the whole edifice is fin- ished. An electric star of Bethlehem placed on the highest point of the present structure during Christmas week at- tracted much attention from persons passing in the neighborhood. CHURCH UNION TO MEET.
