The his‘ory of shorthand, and the work of the shorthand reporter at the Capltol were detailed by Rotarlan Fred W. Hulse and Fred W. Irland, dean of the House of Representatives corps of shorthand reporters, before the members of the Rotary Club at the New City Club yesterday. Mr.. Hulse described the various systems-now in use, and spoke of the advantages of each, while Mr. Ixland told of the work of the congressional reporter, and stressed the difficulties of ‘“getting” all the congressmen when they start'a fiery debate.
