BODY OF MURDERED MAN FOUND FLOATING IN RIVER Miseing Negro Located—Wife snd Brother-in-Law Held for Slaying. Speclal Dispatch to The Star. 3 ROCKVILLE, Md., March 27.—The mystery surrounding the disapp ance of Frank Baker, thirty-three years old, a thrifty and well known colored resident of Poolesville dis- rict, this county, who had been miss- ing since tte night of December .6, H. | was cleared Saturday, when his dead ody, showing unmistakable signs of foul play, was discovered floating in the Potomac river a short distance above Pennyfleld's lock, this county. An examination of the body showed that the back of the head had been badly crushed, and it was at once surmised that Baker had been mur- dered and his body afterward thrown into tke river, which theory later proved to be correct. State’s Attorney Thomas L. Dawson, Sheriff Alvie A. Moxley and Deputy Sherifts J. Stanley Gingell and Clifard L. Howard spent the greater part of Saturday night in the Poolesville neighborhood. As a result of their investigation: man’s wido rice Nokes of Poolesville district, and Clarence Pinkett of Loudoun county, Va., were placed under arrest, and they dre now in jail here. They will be "formally charged with Bakers murder today. The tkree prisoners were very closely questioned by State's Attor- ney Dawson and are understood to have admitted being responsible for Baker's death. According to their statements Baker was struck on the head with an ax while asleep in his home near Edwards Ferry and his body was Iimmediately afterward thrown into the river.
