GRAVEDIGGER’S MIX-UP GIVES BODY OF WOMAN HONORS DUE SOLDiER By Cable_to Star and’ Chicago Daily News. | Copyright, 1022, BERLIN, March 10.—An old lady was buried in the Hamburd mili- tary cemetery today with all the military honors dve to a soldier repeatedly cited for exceptional bravery. Meanwhile, the soldier was burled with all the simplicity befitting the funeral of an nged ‘woman who had spent an un- eventful life. The two funerals were due to be held at the same time and the gravedigger got the coffins mixed, 80 that the dead woman was taken to the soldier's grive. A minis- ter preached a_ sermon in which he recalled the heroic deeds of the dead warrior and patriotic songs ‘were sung by the soldier's com- rades. Then the regimental bugler blew taps and the coffin was low- ered into the grave. Just then the gravedigger, hav- ing discovered his error, rushed up and stopped the ceremony. The woman's coffin was carried back to the chapel, where a simple sery- ice was held, but the soldier was burfed without honors as the preacher and mourners had no time to go through the ceremony a secénd time. —_— i~ Clean your liver and bowels!
