NEW YORK, July 14.—The fifteen-| million-dollar state of Michigan | twenty-year 5% per cent bonds went | off rapidly as soon as the subscription | books were open this morning. They were all sold by 11:30 o'clock, which is better time than any new issue re- cently has made. These bonds were | offered at 103, on a 5.50 basis, and| being tax exempt, with a farly’ long | maturity, naturally proved very at- tractive. The general bond list was rather more irregular, but with recent ad- vances well sustained and with a good volume of business. ‘The railway list was inclined to mark time, but the fact that there was a ready defand around the high prices reached in the upward movement of the last two weeks testified to the presence of a lively investment power.
