ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE RENDERS FINE SERVICE Society Has 744 Members, Annual Report Shows—Officers Are Re-elected. The annual meeting of the Wash- ington Animal Rescue League was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Mer- ton E. Twogood, the secretary, gave her annual report, in which it was shown the society had collected 2,789 cats, 17,197 kittens, 1,286 dogs, 3 pigeons, 42 horses, 4 rabbits, 1 squir- rel, 1 owl and 104 white rats during the past year. It was explained the society has not gone into the rat catching busi- ness. but these animals were sent in to be humanely chloroformed. The society has 744 members. Ow- ing to the shortage of funds it was found necessary last September to borrow funds from some of the direc- tors in order to carry on the work.
