Central Office Detectives Frank Baur and Thomas Sweeney were put back in uniform and transferred to street duty today. According to Maj. Harry L. Gess- ford, superintendent of police, the two officers while on leave of absence acted as guards for a shipment of in- toxicants while it was being trans- ported from a point in Maryland to the Russian embassy in this city. The police chief stated that so far as he has been able to learn the liquor was brought legally into the District.
