These unusually low temperature conditions were accompanied by excessive precipitation, much in the form of snow, over the lower Missouri valiey and middle Rocky mountain a slope, and frosts were quite general as far south as the interior portions of the gulf and South Atlantic states. In Florida and on the Pacific coast the weather conditions were more favorable. Corn planting has continued in the south- ern states, but farther north little progress has been made during the week, although preparations for planting have been active. $1 A small acreage has been planted in Ten- ‘ges down the river to the towing grounds.
