The Western High School will be dedicated this evening at 8 o'clock with appropriate ceremonies, the exercises being held in the large assembly hall on the first floor of the handsome new building. A number of prominent local people will be present, in- cluding the District Commissioners and the fulll membership of the board of school trustees. Dr. B. L. Whitman, president of Columbian University; Mr. Jehn Russell Young, librarian of Congress; Mr. W. B. Powell, superintendent of the public schools; Mr. B. T. Janney, supervising principal of the fifth division of the schools, which includes Georgetown, and a number of others will make addresses. Mr. John W. Ross, Commissiouer of the District, will preside at the meeting. During the course of the evening a mu- sical and literary program will be fur- nished by the children of the school. While a limited number of invitations to the af- fair have been Issued, a general invitation | is extended to the public to attend. The new building wiil be illuminated from top | to bottom, and an opportunity of inspecting the structure will be afforded. The inspection of the police of the sev- enth precinct occurred yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Major Richard Sylvester offi- ciating, and being sisted by Captain Austin and Lieutenant Pearson. After the station was inspected the men were formed in line, thirty in all, under Sergt.
