Eg Over Three Phousand Unsafe Buil ings—Not Enough Sewers or Water. Superintendent of Butldings Constaple made the statement-in a conference with Mayor Strong of New York yesterday that there are 3,200 large buildings in that city that are unsafe, and as many as seven that have cracks and fissures in them, ond have to be constantly watched. The unsafe buildings, Mr. Constable said, are those adjoining sky scrapers. The architects of the new buildings were not negligent in the way of providing proper securities for the new buildings, but they did not pay enough attention to the ly ings adjoining. For the sky scrapers it was necessary to sink deep caissons in or- der to secure proper lat‘ona. ‘The sinking of these cairsons, and the driving of piles were, Mr. Constable said, responsi ble for the unsafe character of the buil ings he mentioned. Another danger to the city from the erec- tion of these high buildings, Mr. Corstable added, is that arising from insufficient sew- ers. In a few ycurs the present sewer will not be sufficient to carry off ali the sewage, and the result might i ab epidemic. He also complained of the lack of water supply arising from the same cause. An Unaccountable Suicide. P. Frank Evans, who manufactured cattle medicine, was found dead in his father's
