THE EVENING STAR, SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 1896-TWENTY-SIX PAGES, 17 TOLD IN GLAD SONG Story of Easter Morn to Be the Theme of the Choirs. ELABORATE CHURCH CELEBRATIONS Programs to Be Rendered in Many Places of Worship. WITH MUSIC AND FLOWERS ee Easter Sunday, commemorative of the resurrection of our Lord from the grave, is in many respects the most important, as it certainly is the most beautiful of all church festivals. it is the day when the most elaborate displays of flowers sre made to deck the churches and special programs of music given. Coming at the close of the Lenten period when, in theory, all is gloom and sadness, Easter is in a sense typical of the carth’s awakening to joy and gladness. The festival is cele- brated not only in Catholic and Episcopal churches, but to a greater or less extent in all the others as well. Even where less significance is attached to it the choirs take advantage of the occasion to give special importance to the musical features of the services of the day.
