The speculation in tickets for choice seats on the treasury stands is at an end, thanks to the decided policy adopted by Chief Clerk Stocks, who has the matter in charge. When it came to his knowledge that a number of the clerks had disposed of their seate to speculators at premium, and that they were on private sale at fancy prices. he announced that tickets dis- posed of in that way would be canceled and that all clerks concerned in the transaction would be cashiered. His determination to this effect was published in Wednesday's Stan and carried dismay and consternation into the ranks of those who had offendee for the reason: that the system employed in allotting the tickets rendered their detection well nigh certain. Yesterday they did what they could to right the matter, and the result was that most of the tickets reclaimed MR. CLEVELAND'S INAUGURATION. Changes iu Arrival and Departure of Balti- ‘more and Ohio Trains at Washington. To insuré the accommodation of the largely increased passenger traffic via the Baltimore and Ohio raiiroad consequent upon Mr. Cleve- land’s inauguration changes have been made in the regular schedule of trains as follows: 4 the main station at New Jersey avenue and C street will be devoted eretasively to the accommodation of passengers to snd from Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. After departure of 12:15 p. m. train on March Sand continuing on March 44nd 5, all local trains on Washington branch will leave Dela- ware avenue between F and G streets. Beginning after departure of 11:30 a. m. train on March 3 and continuing on March 4, all ex- press trains for the west will leave New York avenue and Boundary street station. Busses will be at the service of ngers desiring to be transferred from station to the tem- porary one. ‘Metropolitan branch trains, including trains for Hagerstown, Frederick and the Valley di- vision, will depart from station at the corner of New York avenue and street on March 3,4, Sand 6. On March 4 local trains will leave Baltimore for Washington at 5:00 and 5:15 a.m... 12:15, 2:50, 5:00, 6:15, 9:05 and 11:30 p.m. For time of trains at local stations eee printed schedules at stations in question. The funeral of the late Thomas Jefferson Dorsey Beck, who committed suicide on Wed- nesday by shooting himself in the Smithsonian | — grounds, took place from Gawler’s undertaking | establishment this morning, and services were | held in the chapel at Glenwood cemetery, where the remains were interred. Tho de- ceased was a son of the late Rezin Beck, a popu- lar school teacher in old times, who ‘taught a school at the corner of 6th and G streets north- west and was well connected in this District. The following resolution was Resolved, That the house desires to place upon record the expression of its deep convie- tion that legislation calculated to bear espe- cially and harshly upon the Chinese race is not only essentially unjust and in violation of the most venerable traditions of our government, but is also likely to precipitate an antagonism to American citizens tesiding in China which may tend speedily to the expulsion of all such residents from China and to the ultimate pro- hibition of the extension of American civiliza- tion or any of its benofits to that great empire. Bishops Williams of Connecticut, Whitaker of Pennsylvasia and Hare of South Dakota will constitute a committee to place the resolution before the President of the United States, the Secretary of State and authorities, and to urge that the execution of the law, to go into effect May 1, be stayed. ———_+e+—___ Killed by the Bursting of a Pulley. An iron pulley on a dynamo at the power house of the Electric Street Railway Company at Lowell, Mass. burst yesterday morning. A piece of the pulley struck the fly wheel of the engine, twenty feet in diameter, having a rim of iron three inches thick and making xeventy- two revolutions a minute. It was smached in an instant and the iron’rim. which was made it. sections, scattered in all directions, shattering the building. A. H. Meade, the assistant en- gineer, was struck on the ‘head by a piece of and died in a few minutes. George Lang- ley, an oiler, had his jaw broken.
