Hyarrsvitie, Mv., December 2% 1892. ‘The children of the Pinkney Memorial Church of Hyattsville celebrated their Christmas fes- tival in the H. A. C. Hall Thursday evening. The bail was tastefully decorated with holly and evérgreens and three fir trees resplendent with the usual glittering ornaments stood at one end of the room. The exercises were under the supervision of the superintendent of the Sunday school, Dr. J. B. Burnside, and consisted of the singing of Christmas carols by the scholars, addresses by the rector of the parish, the Rev. Edward Wall, and by the Rev. T. 0. Johnson of Philadelphia. Miss Barker of Washington delighted: the audi- ence with several recitations and a quartet from the church choir assisted the school in their Christmas carols. The rector of the parish was presented with a handsome chair by the members of the choir, and Miss Minnie Moran received a ‘teacher's Bible” from the scholars in her class. The superintendent was also pleasantly remembered by the members of the Sunday school. Each of the scholars was presented with a book, box of candy and an orange and the exercises closed with the singing of the hymn “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing,” by the as- sembled congregation. For several weeks Samuel Evans of White Haven, Pa., had been out of work and was un- able to pay his board. The landlord of the Mansion House, where Evans was stopping, intimated that he expected him to pay up yes- terday.
